Friday!

Happy Friday friends! How are you? Doing well I hope :-)

Janet has provided us with another week's question and fun. Play along?

1. They've said the hubs arm is doing pretty well. And that they're surprised at how well the healing is going YAY!
2. I quite enjoy going to the fitness studio, the hubs and I have talked about this - how they've (the owners) just made it into a place you want to be. They're welcoming smiles are a great way to start any workout
3. What is the purpose of algebra? I'm pretty sure I've never used it in life!.
4. I don't watch a lot of tv shows.
5. Eyes are seriously what attract me to people ~ kind eyes, sexy eyes, honest loving eyes
6. it's always quite scary to hear ut oh coming from my nephew "a" it could seriously mean anything from spilled milk to seeing a car accident to having clocked his brother
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going with my niece to pick up her friend from the airport, tomorrow my plans include gym in the morning, then cleaning with a friend (she's going on vacation and I suggested we clean and get her house perfect so that she will come back to calmness rather than chaos and Sunday, I want to go to the gym in the morning and clean my own house and sort and organize my Christmas decorations and put them away and put up the winter décor!

what are you doing this weekend?
I love this picture of the poodle because I swear he (his eyes) are saying "dad you woke me up to take yet a another picture of me?"

At some point you give up

On sleep that is!

I started trying to fall asleep at 8 (both the hubs and I were exhausted) but here It is 1:56 and I'm still WIDE awake. I think it may be time to say uncle and realize that there is no sleep for me tonight.

That's okay, sitting by the glow of the tree and crocheting a scarf for my favorite man isn't a bad way to spend a night. And really I can rest tomorrow! We have a pretty low key day ahead of us. Maybe stopping by my niece's house to drop off gifts in the morning and going to my sister's in the afternoon!

I'm pretty pumped to give one of my nieces her gift (the bacon scarf a couple of posts back) and I think my sister will like what I got her (a set of plates with a lodge theme - very much her house) and I'm kind of excited about a clock I got the hubs (it holds all the state quarters) and a few other gifts. I (as always) went overboard this year but I really tried to get gifts I thought were super personal to each recipient.

And I'm super excited to put the poodle in his Christmas jammies and watch him open his stocking. Rumor has it that the big guy in the red suit bought him: carrots! A nylabone. And lots of squeaky toys!! It will be a glorious Christmas at my house!

And hopefully at your home too.

what are you most looking forward to for Christmas?

Friday!

As always this is the fabulousness of Janet

This week, same as last year, I'm going to give you a choice of fill-ins OR a different kind of fill-in (or both). A friend emailed me a list where you have to identify Christmas songs by the initials of the first words of the first line of each song. If you'd like to play along, great! if you just want to do the regular Fill-Ins, that's perfectly fine, too! And...here we go!

1. Ahhhh I colored my hair and no longer have roots and 5 shades of color
2. I have been preparing Christmas cookie platters for all the neighbors
3. Creating a flower arrangement always makes me feel happy.
4. what's your favorite form of relaxation.
5. Kick start I totally don't get the kick start theory... Just start it now.
6. as far as the end of the world I'm still here, and if you're reading this you are too
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to hanging in WITH THE HUBS and watching Christmas movies, tomorrow my plans include I have 3 classes at the gym and I want to deliver the cookies I've made and Sunday, I want to get in 2 classes and maybe a mani and facial (I'll give these to myself {I have a post working in this})

What are you doing this weekend?

Monday, December 17, 2012

What! A! Weekend!!

Well, I was actually looking forward to Monday morning this weekend to say how fun a time I'd had! I mean Friday I went out the the nephews and looked at lights! Yay!!

Saturday I had some great classes at the gym (that's a daily thing but I love it anyways AND I got three orders for necklaces from the one I made the owner she kept telling everyone who complimented her on it that I made and sold them) and then Saturday night I went to the Newport mansions to hear Christmas carols and a concert! Fabulous! Never have I been to the mansions before - twas pretty amazing! Note the poinsettia tree - it's made from real poinsettia. My florist self was geeking out 100% and sending pics to my sister (also a florist).

Sunday started with 3 classes at the gym (the norm) and was SUPPOSED to be my little family going to celebrate Christmas with my nephew.

But Friday night while I was happily looking at lights the hubs was doing an indoor obstacle course. Or... Attempting it! He fell! 18'! His wrist hurt but we all figured it'd be fine in a couple days... Well Sunday morning I woke him up when I got back from working out (he is LAZY) because his arm was MORE swollen and starting to look bowed!! Off to the walk-in we went. His arm is broken in 4 spots (well now I've returned from the surgeon it's shattered with more than 6 pieces floating) and his ulna has detached from his wrist. Oops! They put a splint on it and we meet with a surgeon today. This is slightly stressful as his job doesn't offer insurance and thus he has none. We will figure it out I'm certain!

To not leave this on a crappy note - we still went to the nephews house and they loved their gifts and we had fun celebrating their first Massachusetts Christmas with them ;-) AND while I was out my awesome niece dropped by with a swag she had made for our front door! Check out how awesome it is!!!

how was your weekend?

Friday fill ins - guess what I went out!

http://fridayfillins.blogspot.com/2012/12/its-come-to-my-attention-that-friday_13.html?m=1

1. Oh, my just got a picture of the hubs all wrapped up apparently he fell off an obstacle course - this'll be fun (not) as he whines for months.
2. get your shopping done sooner, rather than later! (I'm long done and wrapped)
3. Buy one, get one used to OWN me who even cares if I don't need it!
4. for sure for that one I've changed positively! (Now I'm like do we NEED it?)
5. Soon, I'm going to live in an empty house according to my sister (who I keep offering stuff to before I donate it)
6. do you wish on shooting stars? (I do - but I also talk to the heavens soooooo)
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to look at the christmas lights with my nephews and their mom (we thought it was cooler than the boys did) tomorrow my plans include spin, barre and yoga, then going to a house concert in RI and Sunday, I want to rest, but instead we will be celebrating Christmas with part of my family!

What are your holiday plans?

And I know the picture does match but I'm hella proud of that bacon scarf

Pinterest made me do it and I'm glad I didn't remember

This post is brought to you by 1 1/2 hours of sleep (sorry for typos)

So, everybody knows Pinterest is HIGHLY addictive. But actually doing anything you see and swear you're going to do ohmygoshrightthisminutenow ? Not so much!

Well in order to justify my addiction I made something (yes you can gasp!) but apparently I got

http://pinterest.com/pin/186125397069978465/

And

http://pinterest.com/pin/86905467779735277/

Slightly combined because I ended up with this:

And I LOVE it. The back story goes like this. The bathroom is small (not surprising the house is small). I hate clutter! I also hate scrounging around without glasses in the morning looking for what I need to brush my teeth (oh yeah and shave my legs) so I needed something that would make the sink stay clean and hold what I needed without being too much.
Of course I headed to Pinterest!
Saw a few things.
Pinned them.
Forgot about them.
Went to ac Moore.
Remembered them.
Bought what I thought I needed.
Made what I thought it was.
Loved it!
Went to show you all.
Realized I'm an idiot who can NOT follow direction to save her soul!
Posted anyway!

Enjoy!
PS - my super easy way?
2 - 6" terra cotta bases
2 - 4" terra cotta pots
1 - can left over metallic paint from painting the faucet
1 - bit of leftover Elmer's glue

Glue pots to bases let dry for 2 days (make sure they're REALLY dry) paint from each angle. Let dry 12 hours put to use! Collect compliments!

do you Pinterest? Do you actually DO the stuff you pin?

Side note: happy birthday mom! Love you! Miss you!

Second side note: I have this "rule" if I don't use it, I don't keep it... So today's picture is courtesy of hipstamatic the app that made me HAVE TO get an iPhone and hasn't seen the light of day in months (thank you Instagram)

Friday fill ins on a crafty weekend!

Always the gift of Janet

And...here we go!

1. Why is it that I'm frequently exhausted but I never can sleep.
2. how come fall seemed so short? (I really like the little house's autumn decorations - the witch is already gone with a wreath of dog bones in its place but I'm taking down the scarecrow and putting up bows and taking down the leaf garland on the fence and putting up bells) that's what I want to know!
3. Hold on to your hats! December is tomorrow
4. I have Pilates very soon.
5. Do you ever take Pilates? I'm fairly new to it and it AMAZES me how much my core hurts after 45 minutes
6. in order to really live, you need to laugh, give and get lots of love and work on yourself every day - if you don't love you how can any one else?
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to duh - stay in (I have no life), tomorrow my plans include include a craft fair and my niece and i are talking about a craft night (inspired by Pinterest) and she needs to make christmas gifts (i already put in a request for the sweatshirt and pants here) and i am working on a going away present, and Sunday, I want to put up the tree, we are putting it in a different place this year and I hope I like it!

have you had a Pinterest craft night? And what are you doing this weekend?

30 things day 14

<center>

14. Describe 5 strengths you have.

Now this ones hard!

1- I'm good at remembering that there are people less fortunate than I. The scarf above is one I made to donate to a shelter for Christmas, I'm hoping to get 20 made for them for holiday delivery

2- I think I'm the kind of friend you can count on if you need something done (watch your child so you can get stuff done, let the dogs out, help you organize etc)

3- I make good tea

4- I'm good at not spending a lot at the store - I know how to bargain shop (and so what if the arms on your new sweater are uneven... Kidding)
(Jokes = total weakness)

5- I'm a great doggy momma!

WHAT'S A STRENGTH YOU HAVE?

Thankful

This morning I woke up ready to run. The poodle and I stayed home - hubs had gone up to his sister's home for thanksgiving. But poodle and I had plans :-) we were running our first race together! I was SO proud of him :-) he was PERFECT. I know I know I always say he is but he is!

Anyway we left bright and early and got there just in time for the race (literally a minute to spare - there was a 40 minute detour). The poodle is a faithful running partner. He led me to a FIVE MINUTE personal record. I am so grateful to him!!! And I've showered him with love and kisses all day! And I've had his girlfriend come over to play and let him sleep the rest of the (I'm his hero)

So seeing as its thanksgiving I'll tell you --

I am thankful for:

A poodle who is everything a doggy momma could want (and more)

A husband who gets that I have no desire to spend an eating holiday with anyone and I'd rather hang at home

Friends who love me and whom I love

The fact that I finished most of my wrapping today :-)

That lowes.com let me avoid the Black Friday shopping madness and I could order hubs' birthday gift online today and can pick it up Sunday (his b'day) at the store

The little house

<b>what are you grateful for today?

You'll know at the finish line

So, after last weekend's rebel race I signed up for this weekend's spartan race at Fenway. I mean it was an obvious choice for me... There was: Fenway, a race, and the biggest loser - why yes pretty much every perfect thing for this Joy!

Well we'd had a fun night the night before at Foxwoods (where the hubs walked away $7 richer) and left Connecticut at 8:00 to make it to Boston by 9:45 (start was at 10:15) and all was great - he started to drop me off, I kissed him goodbye and hubs was on his way to get the poodle (who stayed at aunty m's house) when he looked in the rear view and saw a wife with sloping shoulders. I was nervous to go alone :-/

Quickly he found a parking space and signed up and we raced together! Over the rafters of Fenway, jumping on and off the metal tables, crawling under ramps, and running on the field. It was AWESOME!!!! Hubs took something I was dreading and made it into an event! Something we succeeded at together!

We survived

We are Spartans!

What a great race (though SERIOUSLY tougher than the rebel race and insanely exhausting)

And now I'm off to ikea, I'm looking for 1 more little storage unit.

How was your weekend?

A friday fill in worth fighting for

So I do ALL my blog posts from my phone (hell I do everything from my phone) and the latest upgrade is... a glitch! I cant open it le sigh.

But I do so love my friday fill ins so I stole the hubs lap top (I left mine at a friend's house)
Fill ins is the brain child of Janet Thanks for letting us all play along

 1. If you believe in something fight for it, work for it, and believe in it!!
2.  My nephew Aaron is so fun, when we go through tunnels you will here him singing la la la
3. I have to ask you What's a good book I should read (must have a happy ending).
4.  We all have vices; and at the same time we all have good habits.
5. I didn't have time to finish an order I sold on Etsy - fortunately I have until Monday to ship it.
6.  Walking in the woods with the poodle is something I love beyond all reason.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to Hanging in, doing Friday fill ins while cuddling under an electric blanket, tomorrow my plans include Dropping the poodle off at a friend's house, cleaning my own house, and heading down to foxwoods with some friends and Sunday, I want to go to the SPARTAN race at Fenway!!! Why yes yes I am excited! Then we will pick up sir poodle and get ready for the week

What are your weekend plans? And really got any book recommends for me? I'm currently half way through the help

Tuesday, November 13, 2012

Happy Monday but its Tuesday

I lost a day! After such a busy weekend I spent yesterday working out and hiking with the poodle :-) basically my definition of the perfect day!

So the race was amazing! Amazing! The hubs had a great first race and I SHOCKED myself and attempted every obstacle and finished all but maybe 5 feet of one... Hanging from a rope upside down over a ravine and climbing across 50 feet isn't easy... I made it ALMOST to the end.

But the monkey bars = done and done, climbing a 20' wall = cake walk, crawling under barbed wire = actually rather exhilarating, mud = still nasty but I survived!

And amazingly I was tired the next day but not at all sore. I have to thank all the classes I take at the gym I think :-) though I have bruises that have bruises!

And as we finished I signed up for another obstacle race next weekend! I had to do it! It's at Fenway park aka one of my favorite places on earth.

Ohhh and I came in 728 out of 1380 not too too bad

Do you obstacle race? Wanna?

Friday fill ins

As always this is the brain child of Janet at Friday fill-ins

1. One time, I met a cute little poodle, fell in love and made him my own (seriously how cute was he as a baby?)
2. making things for people (see what hubs and i are doing sunday) is something that makes me smile.
3. Seven words I love: assuming this just means the word and not the meaning (because I'm not sure I know all the meanings)
1.Prestidigitation - (thank you spellcheck for that) I love this word because it reminds me of my niece when she was a wee one (either 3 or 4) and we were at the Easter table and she piped up with "does everyone know what prestidigitation is? Because I do"
2.Life - because it was the first word another niece read (and she read it with me and I cried & decided that kindergarten teachers have the best jobs)
3.namaste - because simply saying it brings me to a calmness
4.poodle - because well poodles are smiles with 4 legs
5.juxtapose - I am not sure I know what this means (I think it means to flip but I'm not sure) but I like the sound of it!
6.flip flop - this one came to me as I wrote flip up above. I like it because its either the shoes OR the description
7.fathom - I can't FATHOM why I like this word but I do

4. we had our first snow; the poodle was thrilled me? Notsomuch.
5. I looked out the window today and saw I'm answering for yesterday since its 1:30 am (thanks insomnia) snow on the ground and rain coming down and I realized spray painting cans would be difficult or impossible
6. my legs feel like jelly from my workout today (I took spin, tabata and yoga) and that's saying something! because I rarely have after workout fatigue (which always makes me think I don't work hard enough)
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to an early night in (do I EVER do anything on Friday nights?), tomorrow my plans include I have a trx class at 6:45, then hubs and i are headed to his first EVER race (and my first obstacle race) Click here to see I'm hella scared and in the afternoon i am picking someone up at the airport! and Sunday, I want to hubs and I (and the poodle) have been working on a tree to donate to charity (click) - our "tree" is made of 133 cans (thanks poodle for eating a lot of "squishies" aka wet food) painted to look like the pigs of angry birds with 2 dozen tennis balls painted to look like the birds! We have been working on this for almost a year and I'm looking forward to setting it up and donating it! I'll post a pic when it's done!

What are your weekend plans? Have you ever done a "mud run" warrior dash or whatever it's called?

30 things day 13

13. Describe 5 weaknesses you have.
Oh this ones easy why did I procrastinate so?

So I think we will start with procrastination I'd say that's definitely a weakness I own

Math - see the tweet below. I have a serious block when it comes to math EXCEPT for the lovely fraction part then I am a star (a girls gotta know how much she's saving$)

Knowing when to say no - I will overload my day to help others even if it makes me cray

Parking. I'd consider myself a good or great driver but I can't park for crap!!!!!

Sleeping and I blame this fully on my mind but it doesn't shut off and so I'll wake up thinking I need to ______ and the fact that the stores aren't open will make me insane so I end up awake for hours

what's a weakness you have and how are you working in it?

Sunday, November 04, 2012

What'd you do with your extra hour?

Did you sleep?

Can I live vicariously through you?

Because my insomnia kicked in BIG time and I got a whopping 15 minutes of sleep last night...
You know what happens when you're wide awake all night?
Well when it's me silly things like

I decide I NEED a pair of jimmy choo shoes... Ummm why? Because I'm not even sure how I know who jimmy choo is!

I decide to write a book - AND I wake the hubs up to see if he wants to cowrite it with me! He agrees (pretty sure it's just to shut me up)

I buy (no not shoes) more iPhone cases (damn I have a problem) in my defense I buy them on eBay for CHEAP

I decide I'm going to build the hubs a cute shed for Christmas (can I mention I've never even cut a piece of wood?)

I pick up the (50 pound) poodle and lay him on my chest

I find fun things on Pinterest and make a shopping list for said item (don't you worry you'll see it soon)

I search for and find distance therapists and email a couple to see about distance therapy rather than one on one...

Please note NON OF THIS IS SLEEPING

yes this is totally a non relevant picture of the poodle but I could tie it in by telling you that the book I want to write is called "is that a poodle? with a Mohawk?" It's about the people we meet walking the pood

really though, what'd you do with your hour?

Saturday, November 03, 2012

It's Friday - lets fill it

http://fridayfillins.blogspot.com/2012/11/happy-all-saints-day-to-those-who.html?m=1" target="_self" title="" style="font-size:16;color:black;font-family:;text-decoration:none;">Friday fills

1. I was walking the poodle yesterday and listening to the birds as they wake up and I realized that nature is pretty beautiful!
2. I hate running or walking at night when the moon is full.
3. When we do our best we are doing well.
4. yoga is the best!
5. Underneath it all people are trying and they probably don't mean to hurt you they're just doing their best.
6. Oh! And thanks for for reading! I hope you're having a great day :-)
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to falling asleep by 6 (true story), tomorrow my plans include taking the poodle on a hike, going to a craft fair and cleaning and Sunday, I want to drive a friend to the airport, go to a yoga class in Boston (since I'll already be there) and get some errands done!

What are your weekend plans?

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

Sooooo Pinterest made me do it

I'm on Pinterest a lot (probably too much)
To follow me

And I find and create a lot of ideas though considering I have over 2200 pins I'm going to go with I don't do nearly as many as I find.

(Click the picture to be brought there and get directions)

But! I saw this one in the middle of yet another sleepless night and patiently (if patiently means being annoyed that stores aren't open at 5 am and starting this post at 6:30 prior to stores being open because I'm that sure that they will A be cute and B I will love them) waited until morning to create my own!

cue a few hours later

I followed her instructions (almost) exactly and created my own little masterpieces. The only difference was I went to the dollar store and bought bandanas and ribbon instead of fat quarters and raffia (it opened earlier than Joanne's) and decided not to whine about it since the place was packed with people buying candles and batteries because they were out of power still and I only wanted to add a decoration to the bathroom.
The sticks were the only remnant of hurricane sandy left on my front lawn...

They're pretty cute huh?

how often do you get inspired by Pinterest

Sandy

Hurricane sandy is landing in Massachusetts as I type this.
We've already lost power and lit the candles.
The little house is warm and cozy and although I'm afraid winds will knock it over (don't ask) we are enjoying our shut in.
The hubs is home from work for the day
The poodle is excited we took him swimming (it's our hurricane tradition)
So far we've gone for a nice walk and played on the lake
And carved pumpkins
I'm about to set up the trampoline for a little workout and throw on pandora and call it a day.
Stay safe!

has sandy affected your day? In good ways or bad?

Fabulous Friday fill-in fun

Courtesy of Friday fill ins

And...here we go!

1. Oh, that poodle - he has stolen my new chaise as his own
2. It's a sure sign of being grown up when you're excited to pay bills the minute they come in rather than hold onto them to pay "later"
3. Are we having to paint again??!.
4. My heart is heavy, a friendship I've had for years ended this week - it's for the better for us both but I'm still sad
5. Do you believe in ghosts? I do and I'm hoping to go to Salem this (Halloween) weekend eek I'm scared
6. I'm a wimp about ghosts and goblins but I swear I insist on scaring myself
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going to Home Depot with ash to help her pick out colors tomorrow my plans include body infusion and yoga and helping paint - i kinda wish i wasn't sick (I have the cold that's going around) and Sunday, I want to sleep and maybe go to Salem if we aren't getting killed by a hurricane (have I mentioned I hate weather)

What are your weekend plans?
And do you believe in ghosts??
